Easy textured stitches are one of the best things in the world. Next to caffeine and chocolate, easy stitches are the only thing keeping me alive in the craft world most days. There is just something so splendid about being able to take your project to the next level with something so easy.
One of the most subtle stitches is the griddle stitch. With single crochet and double crochet you take a boring flat project to a nice little texture.
This stitch can be done with any weight of yarn and it’s recommended hook.
Base chain will always be an odd number. For this tutorial we will be doing a base chain of 21.
In second chain from hook, single crochet 1 stitch.
In third chain from hook, double crochet 1 stitch.
Repeat the pattern of single and then double across to end of row. The last stitch will be double crochet.
Chain 1 and turn.
Single crochet in first stitch.
Double crochet in second stitch.
Repeat the pattern of single crochet and then double crochet across, ending in double crochet.
Have fun and get to stitchin!
