Star Stitch Tutorial

20181017_210249_0001

The Star Stitch is such a beautiful stitch. It adds beautiful texture to your project. And even though it may look complicated it’s actually rather simple!

I discovered this stitch while in a crochet funk where I felt like i was doing everything on repeat and needed to mix it up a little. I instantly fell in love and was able to get so comfortable with the stitch I had designed two patterns using it with in that week.

So let’s get to it!

The Star Stitch is accomplished with two rows forming a cluster.
The star stitch is worked in multiples of 2 + 1 for the base chain.
The first cluster will need 5 chains and every cluster after will need 2. (11 chains would equal 4 clusters)

Chain 19

1.chain

Insert hook in first chain from hook, yarn over and pull through. Repeat for next 4 chains.

2.6 loops

You will now have 6 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops on your hook.

3.pullthrough

Slip Stitch. This will create your first star cluster.

4.slipst

The next cluster will be worked in the first cluster and the chain. Each arrow and number in the picture down below is a loop you will create and the order you will create them in.
